Complementary Basic Education (CBE) Program 2012-2016
Choice Ghana with funding from DfID through Ibis Ghana implemented the Complementary Basic Education in the East Gonja District.
The Christmas Calendar Project (CCP)-(Wing School Concept) 2013-2016
Choice Ghana with Funding from Danida through Ibis Ghana implemented the Ibis Christmas Calendar Project dubbed “Wing School” in the East Gonja District.
Citizen led Learning Assessment (2013-2018)
Citizen-led Learning Assessment (CLA), is an initiative to improve competencies in literacy and numeracy among children in basic schools. This is done through an innovative citizen-driven and public accountability approach to social change.
Following the poor education learning outcomes in our operational areas, Ibis and now Ibis /oxfam engaged Choice Ghana to strengthen School Management structures to demand as a matter of right, quality education outcomes from education duty bearers.
This work exposed the poor utilisation of capitation grant, lack of furniture and text books in most of our schools. The result was the district assembly rededicated its focus to education as a priority area.
Elimination of socio-cultural practices
This project believed that empowering the girl child through education is the surest way for the girl child to realize her innate potential for a dignified life. They socio-cultural practices that the project focused on included exchange and force marriages etc.
2012 Choice Ghana with funding support from STAR-Ghana mobilise, network and sensitise Traditional Authority, youth, women, PWDs and political parties in both Kpandai and East Gonja Districts towards achieving violence free elections in the Ghana 2012 elections.
Under this project, the organization has developed a number of policies and structures for the effective operation of the organization. The organization has put in place a well-structured board to provide strategic direction and advice to management in the implementation of its programmes.
Transparency and Accountability Program (TAP) 2014
This project seeks to use a Citizen Report Card (CRC) to assess the efficiency in the use of public funds in the provision of quality health care services.
Forest sector Transparency Project: 2010
The project sought to enlighten community members to be able to engage loggers and other forest users for a commensurate benefit to the community under Social Responsibility Agreements (SRAs).
Mwananchi Ghana Project: 2010-2013
This project seeks to network and facilitate dialogue with TA to be more accountable, transparent and responsible to the community through the involvement of the youth in decision making processes.
Multi stakeholder process in education
The project sought to analyse and mobilise relevant stakeholders at fora to discuss strategies to improve upon the quality of basic education in the district.
Education for Empowerment Programme (EfE) and Public Participation in Local Governance (PPLG)
Support to Establish a Baseline for Renewable Energy Interventions in the East Gonja Districts
Choice Ghana was engaged as a Local Capacity Builder by SNV to collect and analyse baseline data on renewable energy for possible interventions that will enable for the efficient use of renewable energy resources.
Funded by the European Union under a program called NORPREVSEC which is implemented by COGINTA GH. September, 2022 to June 2023.
